Busy Month

It has been a busy month! I don't even think I can remember what all happened. Anyway, I'll try...

Let's see. In that first week of October, Aaron went to Las Vegas for a conference of sorts. It was business as usual for us at home. Other than the kids had a day off of school for the fair. We didn't get to go that day and so I took them out of school that Friday afternoon and took them. The schools around here not only get a day off to go to the fair, but they also get free tickets. So of course we had to use them. We had fun. Isaiah is especially proud that he won the bare-back riding in the pee-wee stick horse rodeo. I'll try to post pictures of that later. They're on my cell phone.

The day of the fair I had noticed Carissa had what looked like a rash on her face. I didn't think much of it, figured she rubbed it in her sleep or something. Then the next day when she woke up I saw that it had spread all across her face and down her neck. I panicked a little and took her into the clinic. I thought maybe it was an allergic reaction to something and so was a little confused when the doctor said he wanted to do a strep test. Guess what! She tested positive. I guess that there are a few cases (he said at least one a month in his clinic) where the child shows a rash associated with strep and gets none of the other symptoms.

Well, after a week on the antibiotics it wasn't better. It was worse. It had spread to the backs of her legs, her ankles, her arms, a hand, and her lower back. It was bad! I never really caught her scratching, but somehow it was becoming scratched raw in places and spreading more everyday. Back to the doctor we went. He prescribed a different antibiotic and some cream. Throughout that week I found out she was scratching in her sleep and tried different tricks to keep it from happening. the only thing that worked was when I slept with her and physically kept her from scratching. This made for a long couple of months. Thank goodness it's pretty much better now.

We still have our dog. He's put on some weight and looks even better than when we got him. He'll play fetch some and likes to go on walks. He learns quickly. Someone had taught him that when he hears the command "up" and they patted their chest, he would stand up on his hind legs and put his front paws on the person's shoulders. I found this out by accident. Well, the kids got such a kick out of it that I think they over-used it and now he tends to greet people by standing on them. Hopefully we can break him of that habit soon. He is a sometimes indoor dog, which is fun and new.

Joseph feeding Bandit his dog biscuits. No, he is not shut in there with him. He is just sitting in the open doorway.

The other thing that keeps us busy is play group. Today we went to the pumpkin patch.

After the pumpkin patch we went to the park.

And of course, we had to go back to the pumpkin patch after Isaiah and Carissa got out of school.

I know this isn't much about just how busy our month has been, but it is a few highlights. I've also been keeping busy with school observations once a week and we have a date-night exchange with another couple in our ward. Plus we have the primary program for sacrament coming up that I have been busy with. (Did I mention I am now the 1st counselor in the primary?) Busy times, but fun times. And the rest of this week should be just as busy and fun.

To end things, here is a video of Joseph. He's eating an oreo cookie. I thought it was funny.
