So, the other day I was cutting celery for Chicken Noodle Soup and Jacob comes over to the table to watch. After a few minutes he says "Eww, that's yucky." I tell him no it's not, it's yummy. A few minutes later he decides he needs to comment some more and so he says, "Me hate that. Cuz me Jacob and Jacobs hate that." I just had to laugh, wondering where he gets some of the things he says.
Jacob wasn't the only one involved with the celery that day...Our cat, Kreacher, came in from outside and started rubbing my leg and going crazy, like when he wants something. Well, we filled his bowl with food and water and he was still bothering me. I didn't really think it could possibly be the celery and then he put his paws on my leg with his claws extended. That did it! I threw down the celery tops on the floor and decided if that's what he wanted, that's what he'd get. Sure enough, he immediately grabbed them and started going nuts! I guess it's somewhat the same as when you give a cat catnip. Who knew?
I decided that if celery is going to give us this many laughs, I'd have to have it more often.

Six Flags
Well, I promised you all a posting of David's and Aaron's trip to Six Flags, so here it is...
The day arrived and David had no clue he and Aaron were going someplace so exciting until they pulled up to the gate. They went in and he got measured to see what rides he could go on. It turns out he's finally tall enough to go on the majority of the rides.
They called me at lunch and Aaron informed me that David had said "no more roller coasters" after going on a few of the big ones. Oh well. I just figured he's not a roller-coaster kid. And that's ok. So, they went on all the milder rides and played in the water area. Splash down (the big water ride) was closed for whatever reason. It was hot. They went to the arcade. David loved that. I had given him all the change I could find and he had fun with that. I think I'm going to have to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese sometime. They just played around all day and stayed clear up through the new night parade right before closing time.
On the way home they called again and David sounded tired or something so I asked him what was wrong and he said that the last ride he went on made him feel a little sick. Aaron got on then and I asked what ride they had gone on. Turns out that David had overheard some other kids talking about this one roller-coaster and he decided he should go on it to. Maybe he will be a roller-coaster kid after all...as long as other kids his age think they are cool.
All-in-all, I think it was a great outing for Father and Son and I would like to take the other kids one or two at a time. But I will remember to put sunscreen on them. At least David inherited that gene from me and didn't really get burned. Just a little sun-kissed on his cheeks. Aaron, on the other hand, was bright red. His arms, neck, ears, and face got burned good. All I can say is it serves him right. I sent sunscreen with them. It's not my fault he didn't use it. Maybe next time he will.

4th of July Weekend
Well, we spend a pretty quiet 4th of July weekend just hanging out at the house. Aaron and I took turns on the computer, playing our facebook games and hanging out with the kids. When it got dark we went outside and piled into the back of the truck. We pulled it to the end of the driveway to shoot off fireworks and have a place to sit and watch the other fireworks in the neighborhood. The kids really enjoyed this. At first Joseph was just all excited and would squeal and dance around. Eventually, when the bigger ones went off and it got dark, he got a little more reserved and had to sit in my lap. It was a nice evening.

Isaiah is crazy about superheroes, especially Batman, right now. He wanted a Batman cake and I wasn't sure how I could do it. Finally I decided to try a stencil of sorts and use sprinkles. I think it turned out pretty good.

Anyway, I hope all of you had good 4th of July's as well!
Oh, and a great big "Happy Birthday" to my brother, Charlie. I hope you are having fun on the mountain and get to do something extra special today. We all love you!

We then gave him his present...a reversable cape. One side is Batman, the other is Superman. Of course there is only one side he wears it on!
This was my first attempt at aplique and at this cape. I think it turned out pretty good. Now he wants a Batman belt to go with it. And the other kids want capes as well. I have got my work cut out for me! I think I may want to make some for my nieces and nephews for Christmas as well, so if you parents have any suggestions/requests, please let me know.

Joseph's Ladder and Sonic
We set up the ladder in our living room to change some lightbulbs. Little did we know it would turn into a great toy for Joseph. When we first set it up he started crawling through it, like a tunnel. I thought I would add to the fun so I threw a blanket over the top. He loved it! I think I may have to make some blanket forts with the kids at some point.

Beleated Birthday
OK...I can't let another day go by without giving one of my boys a birthday greeting...Isaiah turned 5 yesterday. I am still working on his present so I don't have any pictures to post. Hopefully here in a day or two...
I can't believe he is 5 already! In August he will go to Kindergarten. He's barely shorter than Carissa. He loves to draw and color and has an obsession with superheros, especially Batman. He has turned into quite the little helper. I really can't believe how grown up he is anymore. I look at him and wonder where my cherubic baby boy has gone.
We love you Isaiah! Happy Birthday!
